Jay-Z has released a new rendition of ‘Empire of State of Mind’ with Gil Scott-Heron

‘New York (Concept de Paris),’ a creation by Jay-Z, is a blend of his 2009 chart-topper ‘Empire State of Mind’ and Gil Scott-Heron’s ‘New York Is Killing Me.’ You can listen to it in the link provided below.

The rapper took the stage at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris earlier this month to mark the launch of the Basquiat x Warhol collection and the Four Hands Painting Exhibition. During the performance, he introduced the fresh mash-up composition. ‘New York (Concept de Paris)’ was crafted by Gimel “Young Guru” Keaton, a longtime collaborator of Jay-Z.

Scott-Heron’s track ‘New York Is Killing Me’ made its first appearance on his 2010 studio album titled ‘I’m New Here.’ This album marked his 15th and ultimately last studio release before his passing in 2011.

In the previous year, Jay-Z, along with Meek Mill, Big Sean, and other artists, voiced support for a proposed regulation aimed at restricting the utilization of rap lyrics as evidence in legal proceedings.
