Moises Caicedo (Brighton) close to signing for Liverpool for over €120m

Liverpool have persuaded Brighton to sign midfielder Moises Caicedo for over €120m, according to the British press. This would be a record transfer in the Premier League.

Long courted by Chelsea, ready to pay in excess of €100 million for the player, Moises Caicedo is likely to head a little further north, to Liverpool with Jürgen Klopp’s Reds. The club has reached an agreement with Brighton for the sale of the Ecuadorian midfielder and a record fee of £110m, or around €127m, reports the British press.

Liverpool, who have just seen several of their midfielders leave (Fabinho, Henderson, Keïta, Carvalho), have already spent over a hundred million euros to strengthen their midfield, with the arrivals of Dominik Szoboszlai (€70m) and Alexis Mac Allister, also formerly of Brighton (€40m).

Should Caicedo’s transfer be confirmed, it would become the biggest in the history of the English Championship, just a few weeks after Declan Rice’s, who left West Ham to join Arsenal for €122m (including bonuses). Especially as Moises Caicedo was bought for €5m from Independiente del Valle in the winter of 2021.
