South Africa: The 22 On Sloane entrepreneurial campus provides an effective breeding ground for African start-ups

Through its programs and events, the center supports entrepreneurs in the development of products and services, and the deployment of infrastructure and strategies. With over 100 start-ups supported, it is positioned as a major African innovation hub.

22 On Sloane is a start-up campus based in South Africa and led by Kizito Okechukwu. It boasts a team of seasoned entrepreneurs, managers, scientists, mentors and investors, offering SMEs and impactful start-ups a turnkey solution to go from their initial idea to commercialization, with funding and market access opportunities.

The aim is to encourage entrepreneurship, drive the development of new industries and contribute to job creation. The campus boasts modern, fully-equipped coworking spaces, and organizes learning programs to help promoters succeed on their entrepreneurial journey.

These include the 22 On Sloane Incubation Program (designed for registered tech start-ups with sales of up to US$135,000), and the Catalytic Program to help impactful start-ups in Africa launch and commercialize their businesses.

The campus also organizes events such as Startup Huddle, during which players from the same sector get together to discuss the challenges, opportunities and prospects linked to their activities. The next Startup Huddle will take place on June 15, 2023, and will focus on food delivery and basic necessities.

Every six months, 22 On Sloane publishes a Deal Book for selected start-ups. It has already launched over 20 programs and registered more than 100 start-ups based at its Johannesburg site. It has partnerships with the World Bank, USAID, Microsoft, the Global Entrepreneurship Network Africa, Telkom, Venture Capital for Africa and the African Business Angel Network.
