Tam-Tam d’Afrique Awards: Kodjo Houngbèmè crowned best African development player

Kodjo Houngbèmè, one of Africa’s leading figures in the urban music industry, received an honorary award in Togo on Saturday June 24, 2023.

At the annual traveling gala organized by the Tam-Tam d’Afrique foundation, Benin’s Kodjo Sèna Houngbèmè was crowned the 20th edition of the Tam-Tam d’Afrique Awards in Togo.

For Aziz Abdouaye, promoter of the event, Kodjo Houngbèmè deserves this distinction for his experience, leadership, expertise and international renown in the cultural ecosystem, and in particular in music in Africa.

After receiving the award, Kodjo Sèna Houngbèmè, CEO of Nouvelle Donne production and the pan-African television channel DBM TV, dedicated his trophy to his wife and children, to President Patrice Talon for his vision of developing the cultural sector, and to all artists and cultural players at various levels.

Kodjo Sèna Houngbèmè took the opportunity to announce a revolutionary large-scale project for the development of urban music in Africa. Thanks to his independent label Nouvelle Donne Music, Kodjo Sèna Houngbèmè has produced many African artists, not least Petit Miguelito, Dibi Dobo, the late Arafat DJ, Espoir 2000, Diam’s, Kamnouze, Factor x, Dizis la peste, to name but a few.
