Blue Ivy Carter: at 12, Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s daughter already holds several world records (really)

It’s no secret that Blue Ivy Carter was born under a (very) lucky star. And at the age of 12, Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s eldest daughter already looks set to overshadow her famous parents. In fact, she is incredibly precocious. Proof in three.

Blue Ivy Carter, a fine example of precocity!

Barely born, she was already singing. Well, almost. She was just 2 days old when her father released the song Glory. A song on which we hear her heartbeat and a few tears. This song was Jay-Z’s way of talking about his happiness at becoming a father for the first time, and of evoking the miscarriage Beyoncé had suffered some time before. “My most beautiful creation is you”, sings the rapper in this very personal and detailed track, and we learn from the lyrics that it was conceived in Paris! Cock-a-doodle-doo. Glory debuted on the U.S. R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, making Blue the world record holder for the youngest person to have a song appear on a Billboard chart.

Blue Ivy Carter already has several trophies on her shelf

In November 2019, and two months before blowing out her 8 candles, Blue Ivy won her very first trophy. In fact, she is the co-winner of an Ashford And Simpson Songwriter’s Award, a prize rewarding songwriters. All thanks to Brown Skin Girl, an inspirational song featured on the soundtrack of The Lion King.

That’s right, she helped write it, along with a whole bunch of other people: her parents, Adio Marchant, Stacy Barthe, Anathi Mnyango, Michael Uzowuru and Richard Isong. The song is performed by Beyoncé, SAINt JHN and Wizkid, and Blue Ivy can indeed be heard at the beginning and end of the song.

Brown Skin Girl has won numerous awards, including the BET Awards and the Soul Train Music Awards. But the icing on the cake is that she was also honored at the Grammy Awards. At the 63rd edition, on March 14, 2021, Blue Ivy Carter, at the age of 9 years and 66 days, became the youngest winner to be individually credited at this prestigious ceremony. She is the co-recipient of the trophy for Best Music Video.
