Dwyane Wade becomes a member of the ownership group of the Chicago Sky

According to ESPN, Dwyane Wade is shifting his focus to the WNBA as he becomes part of the ownership group of the Chicago Sky.

Expressing his excitement on Instagram, Wade described the feeling of being on this side of the story as incredible. He expressed his joy in witnessing the growth, particularly from a business standpoint, of something that has been his lifelong passion. He emphasized that amazing things are happening in the WNBA, and he confirmed that his involvement is specifically for the local team.

Wade’s involvement will allow the team to prioritize fan and player satisfaction by allocating funds to physical resources and enhancing marketing and storytelling efforts, according to ESPN. The organization is already seeking a new facility for the team.

“We all talk about support, but support means something different to each of us,” Wade told ESPN. “Instead of tweeting and saying, ‘Go support the W,’ instead of just coming to the game and supporting, I wanted to take it to the next level, and this was the next level for me.”

He added, “It’s a great opportunity to be part of a league that is in its early stages. There’s going to be growth, and I want to be a part of that growth.”

Nadia Rawlinson, co-owner and Chief Operating Officer of the Sky, told ESPN, “It’s important for the players, and it’s important for the city as a whole. Dwyane Wade is a son of Chicago. And what sets us apart, I think, from other franchises is that we are Chicago. We are the future of Chicago. We are the culture of Chicago. We are in this city, and we are a part of it, and he is kind of the main character in this story. And we’re excited and thrilled about what the future can bring as we work together.”
